A historic jewellery store owner says he has been left "deeply upset" after chains and charms were stolen from his business in a burglary.
The jeweller was called out to Angelo Smith, the longest-running independent shop in Sudbury, in the early hours of Monday after the shop's alarm went off.
He arrived at the North Street address to discover police at the scene.
He found the front door had been smashed and jewellery taken from the store's front window.
The items taken were from the shop's antique and second-hand collection.
The door that was broken is regularly used by Angelo Smith to take part in Sudbury's Christmas lights display, winning awards in previous years.
The shop remains closed until further notice after the break-in.
The jeweller said: "I had a callout from the alarm company and met the police outside the shop. Somebody had forced the door open and took what we had in the window.
"There was no further damage. I believe we were targeted - it could have been anybody.
"We're still working out the value of what was taken, but it was a selection of gold charms, sovereigns and chains."
The jeweller added: "It's left me upset because we're the oldest retail business in Sudbury. It's still in the same family and it's a much-loved store. It's part of the community."
Anyone with information related to the incident is urged to contact Suffolk police, quoting crime reference number 37/212/23.
