A 13th-century priory in west Suffolk has been named as one of the country's best places for bargain getaway by a national newspaper.
The Guardian has listed Clare Priory in its list of 10 of the best ways to find bargain places to stay in the UK.
Clare Priory, located a short distance from the town, was originally established in 1248 as the first house of the Augustinian Friars.
The religious house is a Grade I-listed building and retains many of its original features, including the stained glass windows.
Travel writer Rachel Dixon, who compiled the Guardian's guide, said: "Scores of monasteries and religious centres across the UK provide a peaceful, pocket-friendly bed for the night, often in beautiful old buildings and usually open to all."
She said Clare Priory was a "highlight" of the monasteries throughout the country.
The converted stable house at the monastery has seven single rooms and one double room, all with en-suite and disabled facilities.
The priory itself has rooms that cater for small groups or families.
