A popular Suffolk fish and chip shop has been named one of the best in the UK.

Hendo's Fish & Chips in Bury St Edmunds has been named in the final three for Best Newcomer at the National Fish and Chip Awards 2023. 

The top three were picked following extensive judging from an anonymous panel of industry experts. 

The category celebrates businesses that opened no earlier than January 2021. 

Andrew Crook, president of the National Federation of Fish Friers said: "The final three for Best Newcomer have now undergone three rounds of extensive judging and are well deserving of this shortlisting position.

"It’s been a difficult few years for the fish and chip industry, as well as the rest of the world, so it’s great to celebrate businesses who are continuing to succeed.”

The awards ceremony, hosted by The National Federation of Fish Friers, will take place on February 28, 2023, at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge.

Comedian and presenter Jason Manford will present this year’s awards and although the guest list is industry-focused, tickets are also open to the general public and discounted accommodation is available with ticket sales.
