A former village pub in Beyton, near Bury St Edmunds, is set to reopen as a restaurant under new plans for change of use.
An application has been submitted to change the Bear Inn from a public house to a restaurant and hot food takeaway.
The site on Tostock Road, Beyton is currently closed but previously operated as a popular village pub.
Under the plans, the new owner, Jianfang Lin, would not change or develop any part of the building.
In the planning statement, he added: "Due to those few years of the pandemic, this pub has been closed for a while.
"We would like to let it start a new journey as a restaurant and takeaway to allow this property to work well again."
A West Suffolk Council environmental protection officer has suggested that amendments be made to the application to mitigate noise, odour, light and smoke affecting the local community.
