Firefighters were called to a minor incident at a factory in Stowmarket.

Crews were called to Muntons Malt in Needham Road at about 2.35pm on Thursday.

A spokesman for Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service said initially 10 crews were called to the scene.

That was quickly scaled back to three crews.

A spokeswoman for Muntons said: "I can confirm that there was a minor incident at our Stowmarket site yesterday afternoon.

"Any risk of fire was minimal, but a triggered alarm system initiates an automatic response from the fire service and, as you would expect, the requirement to follow robust protocols as a precautionary measure.

"We were able to re-start our production line and return to normal working swiftly and effectively.

"Thank you to all involved for such surety with diligent and swift action.”

Appliances from Ipswich East, Woodbridge, Princes Street, Needham Market, Stowmarket, Haverhill, Bury St Edmunds and Elmswell were called to the incident.
