Alexander the Grit, Grit Harington, and Sir Melton John are just some of the names of the gritters keeping drivers safe on Suffolk's roads this winter.
There are 41 gritters in Suffolk based in various depots across the county.

The gritters are expected to be out in force once again this evening as temperatures are set to plummet.
A yellow weather warning for ice has been issued for parts of Suffolk as temperatures are set to plummet.
Icy patches could cause hazards in parts of east Suffolk - after the Met Office put in place the warning.
Priority one routes cover all A and B roads, roads to 24-hour fire stations, accident and emergency hospitals, main bus and rail station, all roads where traffic flow exceeds 400 vehicles a day, and long hills in excess of 5% gradient.
