An ice rink will be bringing "chills and spills" to a Suffolk seaside town to form the centrepiece of its festive celebrations in December.
Felixstowe’s Great Eastern Square will be playing host to the facility on December 17, with the attraction being hosted by the Felixstowe Business Improvement District (BID).
Other highlights will include illuminated angels, a 50-piece choir, an internationally-acclaimed soprano, a maker’s market, ‘knitmas tree’ and a local singer.
There will also be a mini funfair, Disney Princess and an appearance by the cast of the Spa Pavilion panto Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
The town’s Lions will be switching on the Christmas Lights on December 3 and there will be events outside the Great Eastern Square shopping centre Hamilton Road on December 10 and The Triangle in Crescent Road/Hamilton Road a week later.
Other venues around the town and seafront will also be hosting Christmas events, including Beach Street, the Pier and Landguard Fort.
Kate Cain, manager of Felixstowe BID, hoped the range of events would encourage shoppers and provide a boost for local businesses struggling with the difficult economic situation and cost of living crisis.
She added: “It’s been a tough time for retail and we hope to encourage visitors into our town for a unique shopping experience and a bit of festive fun.
“We are delighted to introduce the innovative Angel Trail feature to the Lion’s Christmas lights this year and an investment for years to come.”
She thanked the Lions Club for its support with the decorative lighting and positioning of the angels, as well as Felixstowe Town Council and East Suffolk Council for helping to fund the festive programmes.
She added: “We aim to make this Christmas as busy as possible for our businesses, while engaging with our community to unite and support our town”.
