Cat and dog owners in west Suffolk feeling the pinch of the cost-of-living crisis will benefit from a brand-new RSPCA scheme to prevent unwanted pet pregnancies.

The scheme has no means test, and is open to any pet owner in the west Suffolk area.

Dog owners will have to pay just 50% of the cost of neutering, with the RSPCA paying the rest.

Meanwhile, cat owners can have their cats neutered for just £15.

Ethan Eplett is the animal welfare manager for RSPCA Suffolk Central.

He said: “There are thousands of unwanted animals at rescue centres across the country who are patiently waiting for new homes and we would encourage pet owners to get their animals neutered to avoid more unwanted litters.

“We know that the cost-of-living crisis is having a detrimental impact on so many pet owners - who are feeling the strain of increased food prices, energy bills and vet fees.

“So, we hope this neutering scheme will offer some support to pet owners in our catchment area.”

The scheme is open to pet owners living in the following postcode areas:

IP28 8 to IP33 3

CB9 0 to CB9 9

CO6 5

CO10 0 to CO10 5
