Travellers have moved on from a council-owned car park in a mid Suffolk town.

Caravans pitched up in the Iliffe Way car park, near the Asda supermarket in Stowmarket town centre, on Monday this week.

A spokesman for Mid Suffolk District Council, which manages the car park, said the authority had made contact with the Norfolk & Suffolk Gypsy, Roma and Traveller Service after the arrival.

However, the travellers had moved on from the car park by Friday morning.

In Ipswich, concrete barriers were put up in Chantry Park after the borough council was made aware of the presence of travellers in the mid Suffolk area.
