A major local employer has submitted plans for temporary accommodation for essential workers.
Cranswick Country Foods Fresh Poultry has lodged the plans for living accommodation for up to 30 employees with Mid Suffolk District Council.
The project would also see two cabins built with a communal area and laundry facilities.
Cranswick currently employs 1,100 staff at its factory in Eye, producing fresh chicken which is distributed to food retailers and businesses throughout the UK.
The design statement for the scheme - prepared by Trundley Design Services - says: "There is insufficient supply of affordable rental housing for new essential workers to live within the local area, as such the applicant temporarily finds it necessary to temporarily provide living accommodation on site until a longer-term provision is secured."
Cranswick hopes to use this as "a temporary measure for two years, giving them the ability to develop a longer-term resolution to their housing requirement".
A decision on the plans is expected around the end of December.
