The trial of a 31-year-old man accused of attempting to rob a betting shop and possessing a firearm in Sudbury is due to start tomorrow (November 8).

The trial was expected to start at Ipswich Crown Court on Monday (November 7) but no-one was available to prosecute the case.

Before the court is Mohamad Al Sarnawi, of Salmon Lane, London.

He has pleaded not guilty to attempted robbery at Coral bookmakers in Sudbury on June 8 this year and having an imitation firearm, namely a toy silver revolver, with intent to commit a robbery.

He has also denied possessing an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

No-one was hurt during the alleged attempted robbery and no money was taken.

Judge Nicola Talbot-Hadley told Al Sarnawi, who is in custody, that no-one was available to prosecute the case on Monday but it was hoped the case could start on Tuesday.
