A betting shop in Stowmarket has applied to move into a more prominent town centre location.
Betfred, which currently operate from a shop at 71 Ipswich Street, has applied to move into 14-16 Ipswich Street - further down the high street.
The site is currently Shoe Zone - which is due to close by mid-November.
The planning statement, prepared by I D Planning, says: "Relocation of Betfred’s business within the town centre will retain a local business, retain staff employment and retains the unit in active use on Ipswich Street which supports economic growth principles supported in national and local planning policy.
"Betfred is typically open later into the evening than a standard retail shop which would help support Stowmarket’s evening economy and maintain the vitality and viability of the town centre."
The application has been submitted to Mid Suffolk District Council - with a decision likely to be made at the beginning of December.
