IPSWICH reserve Dawid Stachyra is enduring a tough start to his racing career in Britain.But he continues to impress, and did so at Eastbourne on Saturday, although the decision to exclude him from heat 12 when it appeared Chris Schramm took his front wheel away bemused him.

IPSWICH reserve Dawid Stachyra is enduring a tough start to his racing career in Britain.

But he continues to impress, and did so at Eastbourne on Saturday, although the decision to exclude him from heat 12 when it appeared Chris Schramm took his front wheel away bemused him.

“In my country that would just not be right,” he said.

“I went to take the corner and my wheel just went from under me. It was not my fault.”

But on the night Stachyra did well and he is pleased with his performances so far for the Witches this season.

“I love it here at Ipswich, I'm very happy,” he added.

“This was my first visit to Eastbourne and another new experience. I felt I did not bad.”

Leigh Lanham returned to the Witches side and although getting just two points was happy to get some track time.

“By the end of the meeting I felt I was on the pace,” he said.

“This was like the first meeting of the season for me and I felt I got better as the meeting went on. The boys all put their heart and soul into tonight's meeting, but after such a good start, we fell away.”

Witches boss Pete Simmons added: “What a diabolical decision that was from the ref in heat 12 to exclude Dawid. She must have been in the only person in the stadium who thought Dawid chucked himself on the floor.

“We looked good at the start, although Piotr (Swiderski) was well below par and we can't afford that. But Daniel King and Jarek (Hampel) both did well.”

Eagles boss Trevor Geer commented: “I thought we would get all three points, but Ipswich started so well. When you think at the start of the season we lost Scott Nicholls, Lee Richardson and Edward Kennett, we haven't put too bad a side together have we?”
