IPSWICH Town defender Tyrone Mings proved footballers do care about their fans after he came to the aid of a penniless Super Blues supporter yesterday.
Town fan Tris Monk, 24, of Haverhill, tweeted the 19-year-old before yesterday’s 1-0 win over Bolton wishing him luck – but added he wouldn’t be at Portman Road cheering him on because he was “skint” and couldn’t afford a ticket.
Mings asked him if he could get to the game, and after the Tractor Boys fan replied saying he could, the footballer told the hard-up supporter that he was setting aside two tickets for him.
Although Mings was an unused substitute in the npower Championship game, the Town fan would have enjoyed his day as Carlos Edwards scored his first goal in two years to boost the club’s bid to beat the drop and dent Bolton’s play-off charge.
