The singer, who lives in Croydon, South London, was in the sing-off with boyband Rough Copy but the judges chose to save the three-piece group, sending her crashing out of the competition.

Hannah, 17, had been picked as one of Nicole Scherzinger’s three girls to compete in the show, now in its 10th year, but now just five acts remain.

Last week Megeita Barrett, from Ipswich, said she always knew granddaughter Hannah had a powerful singing voice.

Mrs Barrett has even been to see Hannah perform in the competition and hopes to do so again. She is also going to be in the audience for next year’s X Factor tour.

Mrs Barrett said: “She’s got a very, very good singing voice. Her father had a good singing voice and she’s taken that from him.

“I wouldn’t say she’s a quiet girl, she’s very confident. When she used to come up for school holidays she used to sing so loud we had to tell her to calm down!

“Even the neighbours said she had a lovely singing voice.”

Mrs Barrett said Hannah would also sing outside Woolworth’s in the town with her cousins when visiting in the holidays and even then passers by told them they should be on the X Factor.

“We’re all very proud of her,” she added.

And although Hannah will now miss out on the final of the TV talent search, her grandmother is sure she will still try and make a career in music.

“I can’t see a reason why she wouldn’t,” Mrs Barrett said. “All her life she’s loved performing and I can’t see why she would want to change that now because that’s her dream.”
