If you have ever fancied ringing the bells at your local church, spending a night in a gypsy caravan or having your teeth whitened, then now could be the time to dig deep and support a local charity auction.

For this diverse selection of activities is among 65 lots due to go under the hammer next month at the Bures Primary School ‘Auction of Promises’.

In addition, there will be a further 25 items and experiences ranging from the remarkable and thrilling to the downright delicious up for grabs on the night in the ‘silent auction’ section of the fundraising event.

Some of the more unusual lots listed include having a portrait of your house or car commissioned, getting a chance to learn basic bricklaying skills, and flying a glider.

For lovers of the country life, there will be chances to spend time in the cab of a combine harvester during harvest, to go on a family visit to a smallholding or to take a lesson in goat husbandry.

On the other hand, those with a passion for the fast lane will also be well catered for, with suitable lots including being a passenger in a racing car at Brands Hatch. Meanwhile anyone looking for a more relaxing experience could chose a pamper party for six or a ‘mini makeover’.

The school’s headteacher Drew Quayle said staff, students, parents and the local community had managed to pull together an amazing selection of lots. He added: “Every budget is catered for, and many of the more unusual lots are things you wouldn’t normally be able to go out and buy.

“Money raised from the auction will be used to purchase an iPad for every class and for new outside classroom facilities at the school.”.

Bids for the silent auction can only be submitted in person on the night.

Delicious culinary treats up for grabs in this section include a brace of pheasants, a side of Scottish salmon, a box of eggs every week for a month and 24 cupcakes.

The auction is at Bures Community Centre on Friday, March 14 at 7.30pm for an 8.15pm start. For a full list of items, email buresschoolauction@icloud.com or anyone unable to attend but still willing to place bids can contact the auctioneer, at lcc@fennwright.co.uk
