A man has reported being hit across the head with a metal bar after knocking on a door at a property in Bury St Edmunds.
The victim had taken a taxi from the rank opposite Toymaster to a road on the Howard Estate, which he believes may have been Wollaston Close, after leaving Flex Nightclub at around 2am on Sunday.
“The door was opened by a white female, before a man hit the victim over the head with a metal bar, causing a cut,” said a spokesman for Suffolk Constabulary,
The attacker is described as white, of large build, around 6ft tall, in his mid-twenties, with dark brown receding hair and wearing an off-white coloured jumper.
The victim left the area and used a phone box to call police at 4:15am.
Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen the assault or heard a disturbance on the Howard Estate between 3am and 4.15am to get in contact.
Officers are also keen to speak to the taxi driver who took the man from the town to the area.
Anyone with information in relation to the incident is asked to contact Sgt Matthew Gilbert at Bury St Edmunds Police on 101 quoting BU/14/942 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
