A lorry with two flat tyres is believed to have caused two collisions on the A14 westbound between Copdock and Sproughton.
A Suffolk Constabulary spokesman said as a result of the broken down lorry, a silver Mercedes had a minor collision with a grey Volkswagen Golf and a Ford Fiesta also collided with a Renault Laguna.
The road was partially blocked from around 9.30am and multiple police cars worked to recover the vehicles by noon.
Police received no reports of injuries.
