Artworks inspired by an epic poem and created by photography students are on display at St Edmundsbury Cathedral in Bury St Edmunds.
The second year students, who are on the UAL Level Three Extended Diploma in Photography at West Suffolk College, used a range of techniques to create the work which is on display at the cathedral until midday on Saturday.
The inspiration behind the pieces is Dante’s Divine Comedy, a 14th-century poem about a journey through hell, purgatory and heaven. The students also studied elements of surrealism before they began the project.
Course lecturer Natalie Lipscomb said: “Students were encouraged to incorporate a number of diverse mixed media and lens-based image-making techniques in order to communicate the three realms, Inferno, Purgatorio, and finally Paradiso.
“It is really important that our photography students have the chance to showcase their work outside the college.”
