Forty sheep were herded through Hadleigh this morning to celebrate 2015 being the town’s year of the sheep.
Herded by Combs shepherd Ed Hawkins, who featured on ITV programme Flockstars this year, the sheep were released at 9am and travelled along the high street and into the market place, in front of an audience of the town’s local residents who lined the streets, before entering a pen in St Mary’s churchyard.
Jan Devey, member of the Hadleigh Year of the Sheep coordinating committee, said: “Everyone had a really lovely time, the children really loved it.
“Because it was such a beautiful day everyone stayed in Hadleigh.”
A number of events were also put on in St Mary’s Church to mark the day, including displays about the wool and cloth industries, Morris dancing, a children’s choir and an evening service of thanks for those who have supported the scheme.
