A nursing home in Braintree was evacuated after a fire broke out in the early hours of this morning.
Sixteen residents fled Braintree Nursing Home in Coggeshall Road after the blaze broke out in the ground floor of a stairwell at 2.30am today.
Paramedics assessed 14 people at the scene and took two people showing symptoms of smoke inhalation to Colchester Hospital as a precaution.
The fire had been extinguished by 3.30am by firefighters using one hose reel jet.
The fire service has not issued a cause for the blaze.
