Traffic officers stopped a car after an alert was triggered by automatic number plate recognition technology – and got a surprise when they searched the vehicle.
The officers, assisting colleagues from the Suffolk Coastal area, found the boot of the hatchback, which was stopped at Martlesham, was packed with containers of formula baby milk.
Three people in the car were arrested on suspicion of theft and were taken to police headquarters for questioning.
A police spokesman said officers would be making inquiries about the goods to see where they had come from.
