Staff at Suffolk Owl Sanctuary have spoken of how relieved they are one of their birds of prey has returned – after going missing for more than four days.
April, a lanner falcon, went missing during a flying display at Suffolk Owl Sanctuary, which is at Stonham Barns.
Staff at the sanctuary were able to track the bird for a few days, as it flew to Stowupland, Stowmarket, Needham Market, Barham, Claydon and Great Blakenham, before the tracker’s battery ran out.
Dean Winham, a falconer at the sanctuary, said: “Without the trackers we wouldn’t have a chance of finding them.”
April was found in Great Blakenham, on the roof of someone’s property, Mr Winham said.
“She came down straight away and was quite hungry,” he added.
“She realised the great wide world was not as good as she thought.”
