A new bridge over the River Colne was installed this week for cyclists and walkers alike.

The Lower Castle Park bridge is 23 tonnes, 24 metres long, and four metres wide, and took four hours to put into place on November 11.

It is part of a £50million investment into road, cycle and pedestrian infrastructure in Colchester.

There was another footbridge across the river, which stayed opened throughout the works to minimise disruption, but the new bridge provides cyclists with a more direct route from Colchester North Station to the town centre.

The old bridge will be taken away in December.
