Pupils at Earl Soham Primary school joined together last week to help donate food to families in the UK who struggle to afford essentials.
With donations from pupils, staff and parents, the school donated 32 boxes of supplies to Waveney Foodbank on March 25.
The school council wanted to raise awareness after seeing Britain’s food crisis portrayed in the news.
The pupils noticed that although families get a lot of food donated at Christmas they wanted to make sure that families were given food after the festive season as well. Some of the donated items included tinned goods, toiletries, juice and pasta.
The 32 boxes donated will supply 136 meals to families around north Suffolk.
Peter Lambillion-Jameson, headteacher at Earl Soham Primary, said: “The students have done a fantastic job raising this food. Its been a community project where the school council has reached out into the community and to support the community.”
