A fundraising coastal walk which has raised nearly £300,000 to support hospice care will celebrate its ten-year anniversary this weekend.
The annual St Helena Hospice Pier to Pier walk, starting from either Clacton or Walton pier, will take place on Sunday, April 2, with registration for the family-friendly event closing at midday tomorrow.
The walk was originally founded in 2007 by Steve Randall and Donna Lehain in memory of Steve’s father, Lionel Randall, who died under the care of the hospice in March 2006.
Since then, the walk has raised a whopping £296,318 to support hospice care, with thousands of people having walked between Clacton and Walton piers to remember loved ones during the last ten years.
Registration for the event is free but participants are encouraged to raise a minimum of £30 sponsorship.
