Motorists travelling in Suffolk and Essex during the coming week are being advised of a number of planned roadworks, which may cause disruption to journeys.

Highways England will be completing surveys on the A12 southbound between Ipswich and the M25 during the day between Wednesday and Friday. Engineers will also be working overnight to repair potholes on that stretch of road using rolling lane closures from Monday-Friday.

Teams will be clearing weeds on the A12 northbound between the M25 and Ipswich. This will be done during the day using rolling closures from Monday-Friday.

Work to repair kerbing and road markings will start this week on the A12 at junction 25, Marks Tey. The southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 6am, on Saturday May 6. A diversion will be in place via junction 24.

Resurfacing work is scheduled to take place on the A120 near Stansted Airport.

The link roads from the A120 westbound and Priory Wood roundabout to the M11 southbound will be closed from 9pm on Friday until 6am on Monday.

A diversion will be in place via the Priory Wood roundabout, Birchanger roundabout and M11 junction 8.

Resurfacing and lighting maintenance is set to continue on the A120 between Marks Tey and Marks Farm.

The carriageway will be closed in both directions between A12 junction 25, Marks Tey, and the B1024, Coggeshall overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Tuesday for four nights. Diversions will be in place via the A131, A130, A12, and vice versa.

In addition, temporary traffic lights will be in use on the A120 between Marks Farm Roundabout, Braintree and the B1024, Coggeshall.

Work to repair a damaged bridge on the A12 near Kelvedon will continue between junctions 23 and 24.

While work is completed off site, road users may notice a section of the bridge missing overhead. The bridge will be reinstated at a later date.

Work to repair drainage along the A120 near Wix, south of Manningtree, is also scheduled to continue.

Temporary traffic lights and a 40mph speed limit will be in place overnight, between 8pm and 5am, from Tuesday for four nights.

A spokesman for Highways England advised motorists to keep within the speed limit; get into the correct lane in good time and concentrate on the road ahead, not the roadworks.

Drivers are also advised to be alert for works’ traffic leaving or entering roadworks and to keep a safe distance and observe all signs.

Suffolk County Council and Essex County Council have details of roadworks planned for smaller roads on this site.
