Where are you drinking tonight? It’s World Gin Day

We couldn’t list ALL of the brilliant pubs, bars and restaurants that serve gin, but here are a few to tickle your tastebuds.

The Angel, Woodbridge

A past winner of Spirits Pub of the Year in the Great British Pub Awards. This place has in stock an average of 200 (yes 200!) gins, as well as lots of other spirits and well-kept beer. There’s regular live music and quizzes too.

The Old King’s Head, Brockdish

Fabulous Italian food (wood-fired pizza anyone?) and around 150 gins to sample.

The Swan, Long Melford

Work your way through the Gin and Mix list, which combines Fever Tree tonics with some of the quirkiest gins around. We like Silent Pool’s notes of juniper, lavender, chamomile, kaffir lime and honey. It’s served with elderflower tonic and lime.

Gin Trap Inn, Ringstead

You could easily fall in love with the inn’s very own gin, distilled by Bullards with passion fruit, mango and vanilla. But don’t stop there. There are more than 100 gins to try, and you can even buy a six gin tasting board. The menu boasts Fire Gin from Barcelona (blackberry, blueberry, currants and strawberries), and Da Mile Seaweed Gin from Wales – served with mint and black pepper.

The Hawkedon Queen, Hawkedon

Sip on one a tipple from the Queen’s extensive Gin Vault, in the lovely gardens overlooking the countryside. There is great, eclectic choice here. How about Atomic? Distilled in Belgium it’s packed with juniper, star anise, orange peel, mallow flower, thyme, hibiscus, rose petals, cardamom, rooibos and pink peppercorns.

The Pier, Harwich

Beneath the fancy seafood restaurant (where you can dine to your heart’s content on locally landed lobster and crab) is a rather funky little Scandi bar with a Gin Library of over 100 varieties. There’s a Nordic inspired bar snacks menu too. Always busy and buzzy it’s well worth a look.

The Ropeworks, Lowestoft

A tea room, pie and mash parlour and gin parlour. After tucking into Pieminister pies and homemade mash on the first floor, nip up to the second floor on Fridays and Saturdays for live music and a choice of over 30 gins.

Arcade Street Tavern, Ipswich

As well as more than 120 beers from around the world, this place is growing a huge fan base for its list of over 70 gins. There are specials chalked up on a board every week. And there’s street food on Fridays.

Red Herring, Oulton Broad

This restaurant has a very extensive gin list, including Saffron Gin from France, Rock Rose from Scotland, and Brooklyn Gin from the States. There’s an informal Gin Club every other Thursday where, for £10, you can try five gins with bar snacks. What’s not to love about that?

Mash Tun & Gin Palace, Norwich

The upper floor is a decadent apothecary stocked with around 180 types of gin. Take your friends and settle in for the night!
