The spectacle at The Treehouse, EACH’s hospice in Ipswich, is a mini-festival for all the 240 people across Suffolk and East Essex who access the charity’s services.
This year’s staging was set amongst more than 2,000 knitted squares sent in from all corners of the UK, making for an authentic festival atmosphere.
Sandra Smith, Art Therapist at The Treehouse, said: “We couldn’t help but feel overcome by the response to our request for knitted squares to decorate the trees for our beloved Treefest.
“We received over 2,000 squares from first time knitters, ranging in age from six to 92 and from as far afield as Scotland and Wales.
“The unique pieces, their colours and their designs became part of our daily lives for most of May, June and July as we stitched them together, fusing the long-standing special connection to our community.”
Among those to perform at Treefest were Jade Peters, an Ipswich singer known for appearing on The Voice, the Stowmarket Strummers and Voices Aloud, a group of mums whose families are supported by EACH.
