Firefighters managed to save a farm outbuilding in Copdock last night after the roof caught fire.
Suffolk Fire and Rescue was called at 5.40pm to a building off London Road, after a member of the public heard a smoke alarm going off.
Three fire engines attended to find flames in an outbuilding that was in the process of being built, although it is not clear how the fire started.
Thirteen firefighters worked quickly to save an estimated three quarters of the building and extinguish the flames by 6.40pm.
Incident commander Phil Geeson said: “It can look quite devastating but the crews have worked very hard to save over three quarters of the structure.
“Investigations are ongoing and we will continue working with the owner, but we are satisfied there are no suspicious circumstances.
“Incidents like this highlight the importance of working smoke alarms to defend properties.”
Crews at the scene confirmed that no one had been injured.
