A 40ft lorry has overturned on the A14 Dock Spur roundabout in Felixstowe causing severe delays in the area.
Police were called today at around 12.25pm to the scene on eastbound carriageway just after the roundabout heading towards Felixstowe docks.
A police spokeswoman said the driver of the lorry, a man in his 40s, was conscious and breathing but had potentially received a head injury.
She said the eastbound carriageway towards the docks had been closed by police as officers and medics work at the scene.
“A lorry is on its side in lane two of the carriageway,” she said, “It is blocking both lanes in that direction.
“It is a 40ft refrigeration lorry. It has taken out 20 yards of the central reservation.”
She said a recovery crane was on its way to remove the lorry.
A spokeswoman for the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust said: “We were called at 12.26pm today to the A14 junction 60 to reports of a road traffic collision involving a lorry.
“An ambulance crew, a rapid response vehicle and an ambulance officer were sent to the scene.
“They assessed a man for a laceration to his head.
“He was taken to Ipswich Hospital for treatment.”
A spokesman for Highways England has issued advice to motorists on how to avoid the scene.
He said: “Traffic should leave the A14 at J60 and take the first exit onto the A154 and continue on this road through Felixstowe until the signalised junction with Walton Avenue. Turn right onto Walton Avenue and continue to rejoin the A14.
“Please allow extra time for your journey should you be travelling in the area.”
