Girl power football club, Capel Plough FC were the first ballgirls to attend Ipswich Town FC on August 5 for the first match of this season.
With all the recent female success in female sport including international football and sport, the Capel Plough FC girls were really looking forward to the new season.
Capel Plough FC Ballgirl, Aimee Collins, said: “It was fantastic to see Ipswich beat Birmingham City 1-0. I was near to the away supporters who were very loud and excitable but upset because they lost. All my team had a lovely day out and we hope to do it again later in the season.”
Last year they won the R&T Cup, were runners-up in the Suffolk FA Cup and third in the Suffolk League.
Capel Plough FC ballgirl Maisie Goodwin said: “We are all training hard during the summer and looking forward to the new season. I hope we can again win some more trophies!”
Capel Plough FC is fully committed to raising the profile of female football in Suffolk and hope to have four teams ready by the start of the season. Despite the initially difficulty in finding sponsors for the girls’ team, Capel now have some very good sponsors to help fund towards new goalposts and equipment.
If any girls are interested in playing football, please go to the Capel Plough FC website for more details.
