An inquest has been opened into the death of a man who was hit by a vehicle while walking in a Bury St Edmunds car park.
John Riddick, from Bury St Edmunds, died in September 2020 at the age of 83.
An inquest into Mr Riddick's death was opened on Friday at the Suffolk Coroner's Court in Ipswich.
On the day of his death, the inquest heard that Mr Riddick had been walking in the Buttermarket car park in the centre of the town on September 10.
Whilst walking in the car park a vehicle reversed into him, causing him to fall.
Mr Riddick suffered head injuries as a result of the incident and was taken to West Suffolk Hospital for further treatment.
Mr Riddick did not recover from his injuries and died at the hospital on the same day.
Senior coroner for Suffolk, Nigel Parsley, opened and adjourned the inquest into Mr Riddick's death until May 17, 2021.
