A MAN has died after being involved in a six vehicle pile-up on the A14 today.
A stretch of the Ipswich-bound A14 was closed early this morning following the crash at Snailwell, near Newmarket.
Rush-hour traffic was diverted through Newmarket after police shut the carriageway to carry out investigations and remove the vehicles from the road.
A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance service said they were called to the scene at around 4am.
He said: “No-one was taken to hospital for treatment. The man died at the scene.”
It is believed that the Nissan Almera was in collision with a lorry and it is not yet known where the victim comes from.
A spokesman for Cambridgeshire Police said they expected the road to be reopened by late morning today.
No one else is thought to be injured in the accident and traffic chaos was expected throughout the morning for the second day in a row.
The A14 in Cambridgeshire was also closed at Fenstanton yesterday after 5,000 litres of milk was spilt onto the carriageway when a tanker overturned.
It was closed at around 5.30am and re-opened at 10.30am.
