Firefighters were called to a put out a blaze in a in the engine of a van driving along Bridport Way in Braintree on Saturday morning.
The driver and passenger managed to remove some equipment from the vehicle before the firefighters arrived and put out the blaze. The fire happened a few yards from a children’s playground.
No one was hurt in the fire which was put out quickly. The drama of the incident was captured in this incident sent to us by local resident Paul Burns.
Meanwhile in Suffolk firefighters helped to cut free two people injured in a two-vehicle accident near Orford. The accident happened at about 5pm, Police said neither of the people hurt in the accident were understood to have been seriously hurt.
Crews from Orford, Aldeburgh and Leiston were called to the accident and were able to return to their home stations within about 30 minutes of the initial call.
