Motorists are suffering delays on the A14 between Stowmarket and Haughley after a vehicle burst into flames.
Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service were called today at around 11.15am to the incident in the inside lane westbound of the dual carriageway between junctions 48 and 49.
The eastbound carriageway of the A14 was completely closed while firefighters dealt with the blaze.
A police spokeswoman said officers were notified of the fire at around 11.20am and that the fire involved a Jaguar S-Type car.
She said that no one is believed to have been injured as a result of the fire.
A spokesman for the fire service said that fire crews from Stowmarket and Elmswell were sent to the scene, using hose reel jets and breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire.
He said crews had the fire under control by 11.45pm.
The road is set to fully reopen to traffic by 12.30pm.
