As the autumn chill arrives and temperatures continue to drop, the season of warming roast dinners is beginning.

Earlier this week The Unruly Pig in Bromeswell was named among the best places in the UK for a Sunday roast by the Good Food Guide.

But so many pubs across the county offer the traditional hearty dish - here are seven of the best according to readers.

1. The Froize

The restaurant is only open on Friday nights and weekends but serves roast dinners on all three of the days.

All of the main dishes are served from the hot table and include slow-roasted pork, lamb chops and stuffed chicken breast with all the trimmings.

2. The Duke

The beef and pork are freshly cooked in the Big Ed wood-fired smoker giving them a hint of smokey flavour. 

Accompanying the meats are the usual roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings, vegetables and cauliflower cheese.

3. The Weeping Willow

This is a restored 16th century pub with rooms in the Suffolk countryside offering a modern British menu.

The sample Sunday menu includes sirloin of beef, pork belly and a vegetarian option of roasted butternut squash wellington.

4. Shepherd and Dog

The pub serves freshly prepared food daily alongside a selection of cask ales and lagers. 

On Sunday guests can enjoy a traditional roast or choose other options like burgers or the curry of the day.

5. The Fox and Goose

The Fox and Goose has previously been awarded two AA Rosettes and has been features in the Michelin guide.

Its Sunday lunch offers a choice of two or three courses and features beef and pork roasts with trimmings.

6. The Henny Swan

Located on the riverside, The Henny Swan serves seasonal menus using local produce. 

Roast dinners are served "until they are gone" on a Sunday and guests can also reach the pub on the water by boat.

7. Boarding House

Sunday lunch is served at the Boarding House from midday until 2pm with outdoor seating available until October. 

Options for roast dinner include chicken breast, Suffolk beef and local Blythburgh pork belly.
