A Suffolk classic car club, founded 30 years ago in a village pub, celebrated its milestone anniversary with well-tuned style.

Arising from casual drink-fuelled banter among pals in The Crown pub in Hartest Green, the idea for The 1066 Classic Car Club was born.

Unveiled in honour of the B1066 road coursing through the village, the name also nods to a year of historic significance.

Since then, it has grown from a handful of motoring enthusiasts to a club of seventy members who collectively own around 200 classic cars.

Reflecting back on their humble beginnings, the club commemorated its 30th anniversary with a grand party at a member's house located near Bury St Edmunds.

Prior to the celebration, they received commendation from the local parish council to assemble on Hartest Green for a collective photo shoot.

The club regularly convenes at The Queen’s Head in Hawkedon, often utilising the adjacent Hawkedon Village Hall for sizeable gatherings.

Time-honoured traditions of friendly discussion, casual banter and occasional talks characterise the club's warm and welcoming ethos.

Crucially, a smattering of founding members continue to propagate the club's relaxed style and varied event calendar.

The eclectic assortment of vehicles under the club’s auspices ranges from a 1901 Oldsmobile, a stalwart participant in the London to Brighton Veteran Run, to more modern classic models several decades old.

The summer months often attract an impressive show of these prized possessions.

American classics have recently been added to the mix, with an early Corvette making regular appearances along with beloved MGs, Austin Healeys, E-Types, Citroens, Triumphs, and Porsches.

The 1066 Classic Car Club organises several trips across the UK and Europe each year, taking members on four or five-day journeys.

However, members say there's nothing quite like a leisurely drive through the picturesque landscape of East Anglia on a sunny day, classic car purring beneath them.
