Two Suffolk teachers have hiked the Lake District, raising more than £1,000 for their school.

Danielle Cave and Lisa Hall, of Earl Soham Community Primary School in east Suffolk, swapped classrooms for hiking trails in a bid to fund an emotional well-being hub for their pupils.

Ahead of the hike, Ms Hall said: "With only what we can carry on our backs, we will hike for three days, sleep high in the mountains, away from any facilities, bathe in chilly streams, collect and filter the water we drink, and eat only what we can cook on a tiny stove."

They went on to explain the importance of their fundraiser for the small school, which has just 70 pupils.

PTFA co-chair Frances Fleming said: “Earl Soham Primary School has just 70 pupils in its roster, which makes fundraising a challenge, as it translates into only around 40 families."
