Having moved from London Road South, to the former Ruckus MMA and Fitness Gym and In Time clothes shop at 38 London Road North, officials expressed delight at their new location as a grand opening was held.

With the building understood to date back to around 1836, and having been vacant a few years, it has been described as a "distinguished" 283sq m commercial unit.

For the Brainwave Independence Group - who opened their first charity shop in Lowestoft in 2017 - it marks the latest phase in their developments.

With the new Brainwave Independence Group - Brain injury and disability support charity shop officially opened on Monday "after a busy few weeks" of renovations, Gary Knights Head of Trustees and general manager at the charity, said: "We shut the London Road South shop down earlier this month and have taken on this new, much larger town centre shop on a five year lease.

"We have renovated the store over the last few weeks, with everyone working really hard to get everything ready - it has really paid off.

"Now it looks spectacular - it is a much bigger premises, with two floors - and it was absolutely perfect to have the service users cutting the ribbon.

"We are getting more and more people becoming aware of the charity through the events we do and reaching out to us."

With the new charity shop selling everything from clothes, shoes, handbags, bric-a-brac and much more, it is raising funds to support local people with brain injury and related disabilities.

Mr Knights said that the charity is, in the coming months, hoping to open another shop - potentially in north Lowestoft - as they look to unveil a store selling furniture that has been upcycled by the service users.
