Suffolk's MPs have received almost £400,000 in donations, gifts and earnings since the end of 2019.

The figures have been revealed as part of the Westminster Accounts, a new platform designed by Sky News and Tortoise Media which seeks to provide greater access for the public to see financial data about their local MPs.

So how much have Suffolk's seven MPs been claiming in the last three years?

All MPs have been contacted for comment.

Dr Dan Poulter - £170,600:

Dr Dan Poulter, MP for North Ipswich and Central Suffolk, made five declarations worth a total of £170,600. 

An NHS mental health doctor, the largest came as earnings from the health service worth £126,700. 

He said: "I have worked in a part-time capacity as a doctor in the NHS ever since I was first elected in 2010.

"During the Covid pandemic, I also worked extra hours for the NHS, many of which were unpaid, at a time of national emergency. 

"My work as A MP for the people of Central Suffolk and North always comes first but working on the front line of the NHS brings invaluable first-hand experience and perspective to my role as an MP, both in my work for the people of Suffolk and in my contributions on health and social care issues in Parliament."

Matt Hancock - £157,100:

MP for West Suffolk, Matt Hancock made 19 declarations worth £157,100.

Last year, Mr Hancock controversially made an appearance on 'I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here' and will be featuring in the upcoming series of 'SAS: Who Dares Wins'. 

The most significant declaration came in the form of £45,000 from Minnow Films, while also receiving £2,040 worth of gifts from BPI (British Recorded Music Industry).

A spokesman for Matt Hancock said: "All Matt's interests are properly declared according to the rules and are available for everyone to see."

Tom Hunt - £41,700:

Ipswich MP Tom Hunt made 13 declarations worth £41,700. 

This included £15,000 from the Ipswich and Suffolk Business Club, £2,450 worth of gifts from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Morocco and £1,980 worth of gifts from the Betting and Gaming Council.

He said: "Everything that needs to be declared has been done so all rules have been followed closely.

"Political donations are the basis upon which you are able to run campaigns and communicate with constituents.

"They are necessary and I am comfortable with all my donors.

"Some of the Parliamentary delegations I have been on have been covered by private companies and charities. I don't go on many but these visits to areas such as the Middle East and Bangladesh have shaped my thinking and have aided me as a Parliamentarian.

"I am Vice Chair of the Parliamentary Cricket Group and I was offered the opportunity to go to an England test match which I took. Both Labour and Conservative MPs were there."

Thérèse Coffey - £4,890:

The current Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and MP for Suffolk Coastal, Thérèse Coffey has made six declarations worth £4,890. 

This included gifts worth £1,320 from Sky UK, £600 from the Betting and Gaming Council, £400 from the Premier League and £300 from Crystal Palace Football Club.

Peter Aldous - £4,000:

MP for Waveney, Peter Aldous has made two declarations, consisting of £2,000 from Althea Healthcare Properties and £2,000 from Conservative District Councillor May Reader.

He said: "Transparency is important and it is right that outside interests and donations are registered and available to view."

James Cartlidge and Jo Churchill - £0:

James Cartlidge and Jo Churchill, MPs for South Suffolk and Bury St Edmunds respectively, have not declared any earnings, payments or gifts.
