The A134 in south Suffolk was blocked after a tractor caught fire on the road.
Drivers were urged to avoid the road at Assington, between Sudbury and Leavenheath, after the fire, which broke out shortly before 1pm on Thursday.
Suffolk police said the fire melted and brought down BT cables where the tractor came to rest.
According to the AA traffic map, the incident caused delays in the area.
Two fire engines from Nayland and Sudbury stations were dispatched to the scene.
