Hundreds of pupils at a Great Cornard school have come together to create a poignant poppy display ahead of Remembrance Day.
Year groups at Thomas Gainsborough School united to make a striking montage of individual poppies, which is hanging from the central staircase in the main building.
Drama teacher Kirsty French spent 10 hours putting the display together with colleague Amie Gammon.
Mrs French said: “We felt it was important to commemorate the 100 years and we felt the size of the central staircase lent itself to something dramatic.
“We hoped it would stand out and I think everyone is really impressed with the final product.
“It has certainly been a great way of getting our young students engaged with such an important anniversary.”
The remembrance parade in Great Cornard on Sunday, November 11, will start at 9.45am from Bures Road, opposite the King’s Head.
The parade will march along Bures Road led by a piper, drummer and the Phoenix Group. The salute will be taken by the Royal British Legion branch chairman at the Old Post Office and finish at St Andrews Church for the service at 10.15am.
Following the service, the congregation will gather around the war memorial and wreaths will be laid after The Last Post is played at 11am.
The parade will then form up to travel back to the Stephenson Centre for refreshments courtesy of Gt Cornard Parish Council.
