A new Stowmarket 'street rangers' scheme will be launched this summer, with £50,000 of funding provided by Mid Suffolk District Council.
Rangers will help around the town with tasks like litter picking, additional cleaning and improving the local environment.
Mid Suffolk will provide a one-off grant of £50,000 to cover the cost of new vehicles, including one with pressure washing equipment.
Teresa Davis, Mid Suffolk cabinet member for thriving towns and rural communities, said: “We’re delighted to be working with the town council to make this initiative happen.
“Stowmarket Town Council take pride in their place and we are keen to support towns and villages with new ideas to improve the local living environment.
"We think the rangers is an exciting initiative and we look forward to forming a closer working relationship for a brighter and cleaner town.
“Working in partnership with communities in this way, helping solutions to be delivered locally, is exactly what we want to do.”
Newly appointed Stowmarket mayor, Terence Carter, said: “We are delighted to have received financial support from Mid Suffolk District Council towards the launch of the new Town Ranger service.
"It should make a genuine difference to the appearance of Stowmarket in the years to come.”
The rest of the service will be funded by the town council, with further details announced later this year.
